BUBBIE’S BUTTONS AND BLOOMS
BY OLIVE GRACE STUDIOS

From Windham Fabric

The debut fabric line from Kori Turner Goodhart and Olive Grace Studios pays tribute to grandmothers: both her own, and her mother (whom Turner Goodhart’s daughter affectionally calls “Bubbie”). The line was inspired by “Bubbie’s” button collection, vintage candy tins, and garden.

The jewel tone colorway explores Turner Goodhart’s favorite three elements in the corresponding projects: simple patchwork, hand embroidery, and hand and machine appliqué. There are quilt patterns “Ya Ya Helen” and “Alice ‘Big Grandma’” (both inspired by other family members), but other projects can include skirts, shirts, pin cushions, and even bench covers. Turner Goodhart offers “I hope this whispers in your ear the voice of your grandma telling you how much she loves you.”

CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS & WALL QUILT KITS

From Rachel's of Greenfield

It might be boiling outside, but it’s not too early to start thinking about colder climates and Christmas! These three new holiday-themed kits will brighten any tree. Christmas Critters are six different woodland creatures (e.g. bear, reindeer, rabbit, fox) in three mitten and three stocking-shaped ornaments. Charcoal Mittens ornaments have red cuffs and winter/holiday themed designs including snowmen and a car with a tree up on the roof. Finally, the Frosty & Friend wall quilt kit features the jolly snowman and a loyal pooch sharing a moment of joy.

DEEDS NOT WORDS: CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE
BY SANDRA SIDER & PAMELA WEEKS

From Schiffer Publishing

The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing women’s right to vote, was ratified August 18, 1920. This book and the quilts it features highlight and honor the centennial of this crucial piece of legislation which resulted from a powerful social movement.

Twenty-nine award-winning textile artists from across the U.S. each crafted a quilt celebrating women’s suffrage. These dazzlingly varied, sometimes troubling, always inspiring artworks reflect the long and continuing fight for equal rights for all. Introductions summarize the history of women’s suffrage. Male artists are included to acknowledge the support of many men for women's suffrage, and African-American artists and suffragists are recognized as well. All royalties will be shared equally between the New England Quilt Museum and Texas Quilt Museum.
