Heidi Kaisand

We will be kicking off Schoolhouse Series on with an informative and entertaining Premiere Schoolhouse Session, presented by American Quilt Retailer, the magazine for independent quilt shop owners and retailers, celebrating 25 years of publication!

Running a business is much like climbing a mountain. During this inspirational presentation, publisher and shop owner Heidi Kaisand will help you map out your climb. She’s done the research with experts in their fields and, together, they’re prepared to guide your team to new heights.

Along with Kaisand, the interactive presentation will feature a number of business experts helping her tell the important story of disrupting their business and climbing to success. They include:

Life coach Beth Montpas, who spent 20 years as a small business owner and now helps women regain confidence saying, “If you don’t like the part you’re playing in your life story, you can write a new script!” Certified by the John Maxwell Team, Beth is a frequent public speaker and contributor to AQR.

Consumer anthropologists Rich Kizer and Georgeanne Bender have been helping businesses since 1990 while making appearances on MSNBC’s Your Business. They’ve also been named two of Retailing’s Most Influential People saying “Consumers can buy what you sell in any number of places, so the experience with you has to be a stand out every time.”

Leann Pressly, self-proclaimed #bosslady, and CEO of Stitchcraft Marketing, who also does consulting for craft companies. Leann pulls from her over 20 years of experience to give tips on both Stitchcraft’s blog and podcast and has spoken at such conferences as AFCI.

Consultant Sommer Sharon, a long-time business owner whose company, Sleigh Consulting, specializes in search engine optimization and digital marketing.

Business savvy Tom Shay, who offers business help and advice through a variety of platforms including his website, podcast, speaking engagements, and articles. Tom gets more than anyone what it’s like to own a small business, so that’s why he created Profits Plus, a tool to help small business owners everywhere.

These business experts will help present the AQR Premiere Schoolhouse Session and will cover topics including marketing, branding, social media, business coaching, and finance. The goal of the session is to get attendees excited, ready, and inspired to action!

“Attending Quilt Market is the first step toward running a successful business,” Kaisand says. “Once there, I encourage every shop owner to attend as many seminars and classes as possible to inspire and educate themselves. Attending the Schoolhouse Series, including the opening Premiere presentation, will kick off a weekend of expanding your mindset about your business and how to run it successfully. Our team at American Quilt Retailer has put together a presentation that will have you looking at your business through a new lens and inspire you to try new things.”
