OCTOBER

PREMIER SCHOOLHOUSE SESSION: NORTHCOTT

At each edition of Quilt Market, we kick off the Schoolhouse Series event with a Premier Schoolhouse session featuring an in-depth and entertaining presentation from a Market exhibitor. (Added bonus…those in attendance also walk away with a goody bag from the presenting company!)

At this year’s fall Quilt Market, the Premier Schoolhouse session will be presented by Northcott in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their popular Stonehenge Fabrics brand.

The brand developed from a line of natural textures that designer Linda Ludovico presented to Northcott President Brian O’Rourke at the 2008 Quilt Market in Houston. The artwork itself was inspired by Ludovico’s many years spent designing for the flooring industry and incorporated natural elements like those found in marble, wood, and stone.

Schoolhouse attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about how the brand has grown since that time and about the company’s plans to celebrate the brand’s anniversary year (in 2019) with a number of events and challenges, and a special edition anniversary collection called Stonehenge Solstice.

Created by Ludovico and Deborah Edwards, Stonehenge Solstice will feature a 28-inch panel with the sun rising behind the Stonehenge rock formations, as well as coordinating Celtic-inspired prints. The collection is “the pillar” upon which many of the Stonehenge anniversary celebrations are based.

Those celebratory events include an International Block Party with Quilt Challenge, Shop Display Challenge, Panel Quilt Challenge for local shops, a traveling quilt show display, and—perhaps most exciting—a trip to England with a tour of the Stonehenge monument.

“There are chances for both quilt shops and consumers to win big prizes from Northcott,” Marketing Manager Jennifer Bernaudo explains.

“Our biggest prize is a nine-day trip for two to England, which will include a private tour of Stonehenge where you can walk right up to the rocks and experience the glory of this world wonder. This is an intimate and exclusive trip with lots of exciting stops. We will be selling tickets for this trip as well.”

“We want to say thank you to all of the quilt shops and industry professional that have supported the Stonehenge brand through these past 10 years,” she adds. “It is because of them that we have reached this milestone, and we hope the events we have planned for 2019 will help to boost traffic and sales at their shops, and be fun to participate in as well.”

The Northcott Premier Schoolhouse session will take place on Friday, November 2 during Quilt Market in Houston, directly following the Schoolhouse Opening at 10 am. The first 1,000 attendees to pick up their Schoolhouse schedule/packet will receive a ticket for a Stonehenge Anniversary gift bag loaded with Stonehenge goodies. Schoolhouse schedules are available beginning at 7:45 am in front of the General Assembly Hall (330-340 rooms) on the third floor of the convention center.
